Crop insurance, in plain language
What is the difference between multi-peril crop insurance and crop hail?
Multi-peril crop insurance is the federally subsidized program that protects against yield or revenue loss from many causes, including drought, flood and disease. Crop hail is a private policy that pays for hail damage on an acre-by-acre basis and can be added at any point in the season.
When are crop insurance deadlines in Nebraska and Kansas?
Sales closing dates depend on the crop and county. Spring-planted crops such as corn and soybeans typically close in mid-March; fall-seeded wheat closes at the end of September. Your Edgewater agent will confirm the dates for your county.
What is pasture, rangeland and forage coverage?
PRF is a rainfall-index program that protects grazing and haying land against lack of precipitation during the intervals you select. It is available to livestock producers and hay growers.
